CLIENT PROFILE

A Packaging Leader Needed One Trusted View Across ERP and CRM

The customer is a leading provider of custom packaging solutions, serving food, beverage, agriculture, healthcare, industrial manufacturing, and other sectors across the United States. With a nationwide network of more than 100 manufacturing partner facilities, the organization delivers tailored packaging solutions designed around each customer’s performance, durability, and sustainability requirements.

The business relied on two critical enterprise platforms: NetSuite for ERP and financial operations, and Salesforce for CRM and sales activity. Each platform was effective within its own function, but together they created a divided view of performance. NetSuite held the financial truth, while Salesforce held the commercial truth.

The challenge was not the capability of either system. It was the absence of a governed reporting layer between them. Finance, sales, and operational data remained separated across platforms, forcing teams to manually rebuild the bridge between systems during every reporting cycle.

BUSINESS CHALLENGES

When Finance and Sales Worked from Different Versions of the Truth

The customer’s reporting challenges stemmed from running best-of-breed systems without a unified analytics foundation. Each application performed its role well, but any business question that crossed Finance and Sales required manual effort, reconciliation, and interpretation.

  • Fragmented Financial and Sales Data: NetSuite and Salesforce operated as separate systems of record, with no integrated layer connecting financial performance to commercial activity. Questions such as revenue against pipeline required manual cross-referencing across platforms.
  • Manual Monthly and Quarterly Reporting: Executive reports were created through repeated data extraction, spreadsheet-based consolidation, and manual reconciliation. This effort was not occasional; it recurred in every monthly and quarterly reporting cycle.
  • Limited Real-Time Executive Visibility: Leadership lacked timely visibility into revenue, bookings, pipeline, customer acquisition, and profitability. By the time reports were compiled and distributed, the information was often historical rather than immediately actionable.
  • Inconsistent Metrics Across Departments: Different teams calculated and reported different values for the same business metrics. Without shared definitions and a common data source, time was spent reconciling figures instead of using them to guide decisions.
  • Slow Reporting Turnaround: Manual extraction, reconciliation, and inconsistent definitions extended reporting timelines to several days. For a leadership team that needed faster decision cycles, the reporting lag had become a structural constraint.

The customer did not need to replace its ERP or CRM. It needed a trusted analytics layer above both systems—one governed source of truth that brought financial and commercial data together and made it available to leadership in near real time.

TRUGLOBAL SOLUTION

A Unified Azure Analytics Warehouse with Power BI at the Executive Layer

TRUGlobal designed and implemented acentralized analytics data warehouse on Microsoft Azure, integrating NetSuite and Salesforce data into a single governed structure and delivering executive-ready dashboards through Power BI. The solution became the connective layer the business needed: one platform, one set of definitions, and one place for leadership to view performance.

Data from both source systems is extracted and transformed through Azure Data Factory, stored in Azure SQL Database as the governed warehouse layer, and surfaced through Power BI dashboards. The pipeline is version-controlled through Git, enabling changes to transformation logic and reporting definitions to be tracked, reviewed, and reversed when needed.

Core Technologies: Microsoft Azure  |  Azure Data Factory  |  Azure SQL Database  |  Power BI  |NetSuite  |Salesforce  |  Git

DATA INTEGRATION LAYER Azure Data Factory pipelines automate the extraction and transformation of NetSuite and Salesforce data, removing the manual data pull that previously started every reporting cycle. GOVERNED DATA WAREHOUSE Azure SQL Database serves as the centralized warehouse, combining financial and commercial data under a consistent data model and a single set of metric definitions.
EXECUTIVE BI DASHBOARDS Power BI dashboards provide leadership with near real-time visibility into revenue, bookings, pipeline, customer acquisition, and profitability through a single executive reporting interface. VERSION-CONTROLLED PIPELINE Git version control keeps ETL and reporting logic traceable, supporting governance, auditability, controlled updates, and rollback as the platform evolves.

TRUGlobal’s decision to centralize reporting in Azure SQL Database, rather than connecting Power BI directly to each source system, created the governance the business needed. With one data model and one definition per metric, stakeholders now see the same number when they ask the same question.

BUSINESS OUTCOMES

From Multi-Day Reporting to Near Real-Time Insight

The transformation delivered measurable value across reporting efficiency, data consistency, executive visibility, and the organization’s ability to make decisions using current information.

Outcome Area Business Value Delivered Measured Result
Single Source of Truth A shared, consistent dataset was made available to Finance and Sales through a centralized Azure data warehouse combining NetSuite financial data and Salesforce commercial data. Manual cross-referencing for combined metrics was eliminated. Single source of truth established for Finance and Sales
Manual Reporting Effort The manual extraction and reconciliation process that previously consumed significant effort in each monthly and quarterly reporting cycle was replaced with automated Azure Data Factory pipelines. Manual reporting effort reduced by over 80%
Data Accuracy and Consistency A single governed data model with one definition per metric eliminated inconsistencies that had previously caused departments to report different numbers for the same underlying measures. Improved data accuracy and consistent metric definitions
Executive Visibility Power BI dashboards connected to the unified warehouse gave executives near real-time insight into revenue, profitability, customer growth, and sales performance, replacing reports that were often outdated by the time they were delivered. Near real-time executive insight into key business metrics
Reporting Cycle Time Automated data integration and a governed warehouse layer significantly shortened the month-end reporting cycle, moving reporting turnaround from several days to near real time. Reporting cycle shortened from days to near real time
Decision-Making Quality Consistent, current data across Finance and Sales improved decision-making by enabling leadership to act on up-to-date figures rather than reports that were days old by the time they were reviewed. Improved decision-making across the organisation

COST EFFICIENCY

The Business Cost of Slow, Manual Reporting

The cost of manual, multi-system reporting rarely appears as a single line item, but it compounds across the business. Teams spend time extracting and reconciling data, decisions are delayed while reports are assembled, and leadership meetings can shift from acting on insights to debating which number is correct.

By automating data integration and centralizing reporting logic, TRUGlobal helped reduce manual reporting effort by more than 80%. Finance and operations teams recovered time in every reporting cycle, while leaders gained access to fresher information without waiting for manual consolidation.

Equally important, the solution improved trust in the numbers. Finance and Sales now work from the same governed dataset and the same metric definitions, reducing the time spent reconciling conflicting reports and creating a stronger foundation for faster, more confident decisions.

Two systems of record. One trusted version of performance.
TRUGlobal built the analytics layer that brought them together.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIAL

In Their Own Words

“Executive visibility was difficult when our financial and commercial data lived in separate systems. Our teams were capable, but too much time was spent extracting, reconciling, and distributing reports across NetSuite and Salesforce. TRUGlobal understood the issue and solved it at the structural level. We now have a governed data warehouse beneath our reporting, giving Finance and Sales a consistent source of truth. The month-end reporting cycle has been compressed significantly, and leadership conversations are more productive because everyone is working from the same data. That is the kind of outcome that justifies the investment.”
